The Story of Vera Byrd

Vera Byrd is the brainchild of Stephanie McCarthy, who has dedicated the past two decades to perfecting her craft in the kitchen. Stephanie honed her skills as the sous-chef and assistant to renowned writer/chef Jane Webster of The French Table in Bosgouet, France. During her two years there, she learned the art of hosting, preparing, and serving luxurious meals to intimate groups staying at the Webster family chateau. Inspired by Jane's expertise and deep understanding of the local produce in Normandy, Stephanie creates menus that showcase the Islands culinary treasures and highlight local ingredients.

At Vera Byrd, everything served is meticulously crafted by hand, using only the freshest seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Our goal is to showcase the beauty and flavours of the island, while also incorporating a variety of native Australian ingredients available to us. We take pride in creating unique menus with our clients that celebrate the rich native heritage of our surroundings.
